UEFA issues its decision on the referee of the Spain-Germany match

English: An English media report stated that the European Football Association “UEFA” issued its decision against the English referee Anthony Taylor, the referee of the Spain-Germany match in the quarter-finals of the 2024 European Nations Cup, who caused a storm of controversy due to his failure to award a penalty kick to the Germans.

Referee Taylor caused a great deal of anger in the German national team because he did not announce a penalty kick after Jamal Musiala’s shot hit the arm of Marc Cucurella, the left-back of the Spanish national team, in the second half of extra time in the match between the two teams.

Things have developed regarding this issue to the point that thousands of Germans signed a document to replay the match against Spain in the Euro quarter-finals – as revealed by many European media reports.

UEFA excludes Spain-Germany match referee from Euro 2024

The newspaper reported:Daily expressEnglish: UEFA has decided to exclude referee Anthony Taylor from the Spain-Germany match from the European Nations Cup, and not appoint him to manage the remaining three matches in the tournament in the semi-finals and final.

The same source explained that referee Taylor packed his bags and returned to his home in England because he was not appointed to manage one of the two Euro semi-final matches, the first of which will be between Spain and France, while the second will be between the Netherlands and England.

Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic is expected to supervise the first semi-final, which will be played between La Roja and Les Bleus, tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9. The task of managing the second match between the Windmills and the Three Lions, the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, July 10, has been assigned to German referee Felix Zwayer.

The same source stated that English referee Taylor will not officiate the Euro final match, which will be held on July 14, noting that Italian referee Daniele Orsato is the first candidate to be the main referee in the final, followed by Polish referee Szymon Marciniak as the second candidate.

It is also worth noting that the English referee Taylor, who refereed the Spain-Germany match, caused Sandro Wagner, the assistant coach of the “Mannschaft” team, to enter his room and blame and reprimand him for not awarding a penalty kick to the Germans in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 – as stated by many media reports.
