The President of the “La Liga” Association expresses his opinion on the development of Iraqi football

Spanish League President Javier Tebas revealed his impression of Iraqi football after his second visit to the capital, Baghdad, on Monday, on the sidelines of his coming to Iraq to follow the El Clásico match that will bring together Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Zawraa.

The match will be held at Al-Madina International Stadium this evening as part of the 31st round of matches Iraq Stars League As well as for the opening of the “La Liga” headquarters in Baghdad.

Tebas’s opinion on the development of Iraqi football

Tebas said in a statement to the Iraqi Al-Ittihad website, “The Spanish League, in coordination with the Iraqi Football Federation, has developed a set of plans to develop the reality of Iraqi football in all aspects, and this is what was stipulated in the contract concluded between the two parties. We hope that we will continue to improve and work.”

He added, “The progress that occurred in Iraq was very fruitful, and I see a bright future for Iraqi football with the development of clubs and the level of play in general. During my visit, I noticed development at all levels, including infrastructure and age groups, and we are reaping the fruits of joint work with the Iraqi Federation.”

The Iraqi Football Association hopes that the El Clásico match this evening will appear in a way that reflects the development of Iraqi football in terms of broadcasting and television production techniques, as well as the rise in the technical level of the two teams.

For his part, the President of the Iraqi Federation, Adnan Darjal, said, “The visit of the President of the Association La Liga To Baghdad, it is an affirmation of the strength of the partnership with Al-Ittihad, and the pursuit of achieving all the desired goals aimed at achieving qualitative breakthroughs in the league competitions and the dream project.”

He added, “Tebas’s visit to open the La Liga headquarters in Baghdad is a pioneering step that will achieve many positive aspects for our football, as well as attending the El Clásico match between Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and Al-Zawraa at Al-Madina Stadium today, which we are working to make appear in a distinctive way that will be a model for next season’s competitions.”

On June 4, 2023, the Iraqi Football Association announced the signing of a partnership contract with the Spanish League, LaLiga, to establish the Iraqi Professional League for the 2023-2024 season.

The Iraqi Federation had previously confirmed that the first contract with “La Liga”, under which the association will undertake all procedures related to marketing the league competition, while the second contract relates to the Dream 2030 project, and includes the “La Liga” association developing Iraqi sports talents in the field of football.
