The Syrian Football Association announced the confirmation of participation Syria national team In the King’s Cup of Thailand friendly tournament, which will be held between the 10th and 15th of October, during the FIFA days.

The King’s Cup of Thailand will include four teams: Syria, Thailand, the Philippines and Tajikistan. The Syrian national team management is seeking to fix friendly matches during the international break in September and November, after the Syrian team was excluded from the final World Cup qualifiers, coming in third place in the second Asian group, behind the Japanese and North Korean teams.

The Syrian Football Association has filed a complaint with FIFA regarding the North Korean team’s right to participate in the final round of the World Cup qualifiers, due to what it described as the Koreans’ tampering with the principle of equal opportunities, after refusing to host the Japanese team in the second leg match between the two teams, with the decision being that the North Korean team should lose by three goals to none.

Accordingly, it was agreed with the Thai side to withdraw from the King’s Cup of Thailand. FriendlyIf North Korea withdraws or FIFA decides to exclude it and invite the Syrian national team to participate in the final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

In a related context, the Syrian national team management is studying a group of CVs of foreign coaches to succeed Argentine Hector Cuper in leading the first team, after the latter resigned due to the failure to reach the final round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The first official event awaiting the Syrian national team will be in March. Asian Cup Qualifiers Saudi Arabia 2027.
