CAF said in a statement: “CAF has received written submissions from stakeholders in Cameroonian football to consider and investigate alleged inappropriate behaviour by Samuel Eto’o, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation. CAF is considering these requests based on the statutes and regulations of the Federation.”

The statement added: “While the allegations are serious at first sight, Eto’o is presumed innocent until otherwise determined by a judicial body. CAF will not make any further announcements while the investigations are ongoing and will issue an official statement once they are concluded.”
