Sameh Al-Darbali reveals the reason for his departure from Al-Ahly Tripoli


Tunisian Sameh Al-Derbali, assistant coach of the technical staff of the Libyan Al-Ahly Tripoli team, led by his compatriot Tariq Jaraya, officially announced his departure from his position hours before his club competes in the coronation round matches in the stadiums of the Italian capital, Rome.

In March 2023, Al-Ahly Tripoli Club contracted with Tunisian Sameh Al-Darbali as assistant coach to his compatriot Tariq Jaraya, and he was crowned with the team last season 2022-23 with the Libyan League Championship in addition to the Cup title.

Sameh Al-Darbali spoke about the reasons for his departure from the Libyan club at this time, saying in a special statement to the WinWin website: “I reached a joint agreement with the management of Al-Ahly Tripoli club to terminate the contract by mutual consent due to the health conditions I am going through, as I underwent a successful back surgery last April.”

Tunisian Sameh Al-Darbali confirmed that the relationship that connects him with Al-Ahly Tripoli Club is exceptional and different from everything he has experienced, especially since he lived unforgettable moments in Libya, saying: “I am always proud of my experience with Al-Ahly Tripoli as a player and assistant coach, and I am proud of the fans’ love for me, and I consider myself one of the sons of this great club.”

He continued: “I bid farewell to Al-Ahly Tripoli Club of Libya and its large fans who have a special place in my heart. I always hope to see these fans happy with victories and championships.”

Sameh Al-Darbali concluded his speech by saying: “Even though I am not currently part of the technical staff of Al-Ahly Tripoli Club, I will support the team during the matches of the crowning round in the stadiums of the Italian capital, Rome, until the last minute, and Al-Ahly remains the first candidate to win the league championship for the 14th time in its history.”

Al-Darbali.. A career full of titles

Sameh Derbali (37 years old) started his career with Taraji in 2006 and was crowned with nine titles in the 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 leagues. Derbali also won the Tunisian Cup with Taraji on 4 occasions, in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2016.

Derbali also won the African Champions League title three times in 2011, 2018 and 2019, and was crowned with the Arab Championship twice in 2008 and 2017, and the Tunisian Super Cup twice as well in 2019 and 2020.

The former star played 142 matches with Taraji before leaving in 2016 for Olympique Béja and from there to Al-Ahly Tripoli in Libya before returning to the Bab Souika team in 2017 and playing 83 matches with it and retiring from playing permanently in 2022.
