Qatari Mutaz Barshim hints at retirement after Paris Olympics

Qatari high jump champion Mutaz Barshim expressed on Monday the possibility of his participation in the the Olympics The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris will be his last in his sporting career full of achievements.

Barshim began his series of successes in 2010 when he won the gold medal at the World Junior Championships, and later continued his journey of success and won many medals, as he recorded a historic achievement for the State of Qatar by winning three consecutive gold medals at the World Athletics Championships in 2017, 2019 and 2022.

Barsham said in statements reported by media Different: “I feel that the 2024 Paris Olympics may be my last participation in this prestigious tournament. This is a strong feeling that I have, but I realize that no one can be certain about the future. I had this feeling two or three years ago, and now I am preparing to participate again.”

Mutaz Barshim concluded his statements by saying: “We are fierce athletes, burning with a passion for constant competition. We always strive to reach the top, and I do not exclude myself from that. The 33rd Summer Olympic Games will be held in the French capital, Paris, from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
