Qatar and Jordan participate in the Olympic table tennis qualifiers

West Asian Federation revealed For table tennisToday, Tuesday, it announced the list of male and female players participating in the Olympic table tennis qualifiers for the Olympic Games (Paris 2024), which will be held in the Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah during the period from 17 to 19 May this year.

The men’s competition will include 18 players who will compete for one qualifying card, while in the women’s competition, 11 players will also compete for one qualifying card, as these players represent 10 countries: Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Oman, Palestine, in addition to Iraq. .

Qualification calculations for the Olympic table tennis qualifiers

The qualifying rules stipulate that male and female players are distributed into groups, with the first and second from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals, which will be held in a knockout system.

The group stage competitions will be held next Friday, and will be completed the next day, in addition to the quarter-final matches, and the semi-final matches and the final match for each category will be held next Sunday.

It is noteworthy that the West Asian qualifier for the last Tokyo Olympics was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and the Saudi player, Ali Al-Khadrawi, qualified for it after his victory in the final over the Lebanese player, Daoud Shehab, with a score of 4-1, while the Syrian player, Hind Zaza, snatched the women’s singles card after winning the final in the final over the player.
