Al-Ahly club’s coronation with the title has been postponed Egyptian League For the 2023-24 season, despite the victory over Al Mokawloon Al Arab thanks to a hat-trick by Wissam Abu Ali, after the Pyramids team managed to overcome the ZFC team with two goals to one.
Al-Ahly hosted its counterpart, Al-Mokawloon Al-Arab, at Cairo International Stadium in a postponed match from the twenty-third round of the Egyptian League.
The Red Devils raised their points to 78, at the top of the Egyptian League, needing only one point to secure the title after Pyramids’ victory over ZED, regardless of the results of the upcoming matches for the Al-Ahram team, in light of the Red Devils’ collection of (78 points from 30 matches) compared to 73 points for the Sky Blues from 32 matches.
Wissam Abu Ali adds Arab Contractors to his victims
Al-Ahly club entered the match with pressure in order to score early, and the Palestinian Wissam Abu Ali almost scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute, after a cross from Hussein Al-Shahat reached Abu Ali, but the visitors’ defense cleared the ball.
In the (15) minute, the cooperation between Wissam Abu Ali and Hussein El Shahat resulted in the first goal in the match, by the feet of the Palestinian star, after Hussein El Shahat passed the ball to Wissam Abu Ali, who was positioned inside the penalty area, who controlled the ball wonderfully, changed its direction, and shot into Mahmoud Abu El Saud’s goal to announce the lead for the Red Giant with the first goal.
Al-Ahly club continued to control the game with a complete retreat of the Arab Contractors players, and Abu Ali returned to score his second goal in the match in minute (35), reaching the 17th goal at the top of the Egyptian League scorers list.
The goal came after a corner kick executed by Moroccan Reda Salim with a cross into the penalty area. The visitors’ defense was unable to clear the ball, then Al-Ahly defender Rami Rabia passed the ball to Wissam Abu Ali, who shot directly into the net.
Marawan almost scored a third goal for Al-Ahly, if it weren’t for the brilliance of goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Al-Saud, after a wonderful long pass from Imam Ashour towards Marawan Attia, and the Red Devils midfielder shot it, but goalkeeper Abu Al-Saud deftly cleared the ball from the near post.
The first half ended with the Red Devils leading by two clean goals, and the Red Castle team had hopes of clinching the title with Pyramids falling behind in the score, but Ramadan Sobhi put Pyramids ahead from a penalty kick in the (45+2) minute.
Wissam Abu Ali does not stop scoring with Al-Ahly
In the (52) minute, Imam Ashour almost scored a third goal after a quick counterattack by Al-Ahly Club. Reda Salim took the ball and passed it to Imam Ashour, who shot from the edge of the penalty area, but his ball hit the defense of Al-Mokawloon and went out for a corner kick.
In the (63) minute, the brilliant Wissam Abu Ali scored his third goal in the match, a hat-trick, and the third for the Red Devils, after a shot from inside the penalty area hit the hand of one of the Arab Contractors players, before changing its course into the Arab Contractors’ net.
Substitute Percy Tau managed to score the fourth goal for the Red Devils, in the (77) minute, after a wonderful cross from substitute Omar Kamal Abdel-Wahid from inside the penalty area, and the latter prepared the “ball” for the South African, who turned the ball towards the net, to bounce into the goal of goalkeeper Abu Al-Saud.
With this victory, Al-Ahly Club is close to officially clinching the Egyptian League title this season, as it needs one point from its remaining 4 matches.
Al-Ahly Club reached 78 points, topping the Egyptian League standings, after playing 30 matches, achieving the 19th consecutive victory in the local competition.
Pyramids postpones Al-Ahly’s coronation as Egyptian League champions
Pyramids managed to beat ZED 2-1, postponing Al Ahly’s title. The first half ended in a goalless draw, before Peter Zelo Motomusi fouled Ahmed Sami inside the penalty area, which led to the referee awarding a penalty kick, which Ramadan Sobhi successfully scored to the left of goalkeeper Ali Lotfi in the 45+2 minute.
In the second half, Mustafa Abdel Raouf Zico scored the equaliser for the ZD team in minute (50), after a cross from Banonbi to the right, which Zico received and rose in a wonderful way and shot the ball into the net, outperforming defender Mahmoud Dunga.
Ramadan Sobhi wasted an opportunity to score a second goal in the (61) minute after the ball reached him inside the penalty area, but the Sky Blues winger did not deal with the ball in the best possible way.
Before the end of the second half and the match, substitute Marawan Hamdy managed to score the winning goal for Pyramids, after a cross from Mohamed Hamdy into the penalty area, which Marawan met with his head into the net to the left of goalkeeper Ali Lotfy next to the left post, who was unable to deal with the ball.
With this victory, Pyramids occupies the second place in the Egyptian League table with 73 points, while the ZED team comes in seventh place with 47 points.
