Netherlands beat Romania to reach Euro last 16

The Dutch national team succeeded in achieving victory over its counterpart Romania national teamwith two clean goals, in the match that brought the two teams together, on Tuesday evening, in the round of 16 of the Euro 2024 competition.

The match between the Netherlands and Romania was held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, in front of an audience of more than 65,000 spectators in the round of 16. European Nations Cup Euro 2024.

The Romanian team entered the match from the beginning, and tried to threaten the Dutch defense in the second minute, after a cross from Andrei Raciu to Hagi, but Van Dijk removed the danger to the Dutch team’s goal.

The first Dutch threat in the match came in the sixth minute, through Xavi Simons with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball eventually settled in the arms of goalkeeper Florian Nitsa.

The game remained a “debate” between the two teams, with attempts here, before the first goal came, before the end of the first half hour, through the Dutchman Cody Gakpo in the (20) minute, after a wonderful pass reached him from Xavi Simons.

The Romanian team tried to come back after only four minutes, after a cross from Hagi reached Dennis Mann who shot powerfully, but his two shots were intercepted by Nathan Ake, causing Romania to lose the equalizer in minute (24).

In the (31) minute, Romanian defender Radu Dragusin prevented a second certain goal for the Dutch team, as the ball was on its way to the net, but the Tottenham defender intervened at the right time and turned the ball into a corner kick.

Netherlands finish things off in the second half

The Dutch pressure continued in the second half of the match, and Memphis Depay tried to score a second goal in the (54) minute, after a powerful shot from the former Atletico Madrid striker, but Romanian defender Raito cleared the ball off the goal line.

Luck was against Virgil van Dijk in the (58) minute after a wonderful cross from Memphis Depay, which the Liverpool defender headed, but the left post saved goalkeeper Florian Nitsa and blocked the ball.

Cody Gakpo managed to score the second goal for the Dutch Windmills in the (63) minute, with a powerful shot, but the referee canceled the goal after returning to the video technology (VAR) due to an offside situation.

The Dutch pressure, which did not stop throughout the second half, resulted in a second goal, after a great opportunity arose for Doyle Malen, after a decisive pass from Memphis Depay in the (83) minute.

The referee added 4 minutes of stoppage time, and Malen succeeded in adding a third goal for the Netherlands and his second in the match after a wonderful counterattack. Thus, the Windmills team succeeded in qualifying for the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, to await the winner of the Turkey and Austria match, which will be held later this evening, at exactly 10:00 PM Mecca time.
