Modeste officially announces his departure from Al-Ahly

French centre-forward Anthony Modeste announced today, Sunday, his official departure from the Egyptian club Al-Ahly at the end of his contract with the team.

Modest moved to Al-Ahly in a free transfer last September, coming from German club Borussia Dortmund, after the end of his contract with the “Festival Lions”.

The contract of the former Borussia Dortmund striker stipulated that the player would continue for one season with the possibility of extending it for an additional season if the player reached a certain number of minutes of participation, and he refused. Modest received a salary with Al-Ahly estimated at $1.5 million, and he won the CAF Champions League, Egypt Cup, and Egyptian Super Cup championships with the team, as well as the bronze medal in the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
