Mahmoud Al-Mawas decides on his next destination

The star of the Iraqi police team, the Syrian Mahmoud Al-Mawas, has settled on his new destination in the current summer transfer market.

Al-Mawas (31 years old) plays for the police Iraqi since August 2021, when he moved to the Iraqi team from Umm Salal of Qatar.

She continued: “Mahmoud Al-Mawas has decided to move to Al-Jazira, as he wants to represent the Emirati team next season, especially since the player has previously played in the United Arab Emirates with the Al-Ain Youth Team under 19 years old, so he finds that playing professionally in the Emirates is the best destination for the player in the next stage.”

Al-Mawas’ contract with the Iraqi police ends at the end of the current season, and his market value is 500 thousand euros. The player has previously had experiences in Syria, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Romania.

Al-Mawas continues to provide the best performances in Iraq, as he currently occupies the second place in the Iraqi Premier League scorers list with 19 goals, behind the leader Ayman Hussein, who has scored 27 goals so far.

Mahmoud Al-Mawas is striving to return to the Syrian national team, after he was absent from the recent lists of the “Qasioun Eagles” team in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.

Al-Mawas hopes to end his season with Al-Shorta by achieving the double by winning the Iraq Cup title, as the team clinched the Iraqi Premier League title one round before the end.

The police team has not won the Iraq Cup title since its establishment, as the Green Guitar team is looking forward to breaking the knot that has been ongoing throughout the past period.
