Maguire shines in thrilling finale at Aramco Golf Championship


The Aramco Team Golf Championship presented by Public Investment Fund concluded in London with dramatic events, ending with Irish champion Ewan Maguire being crowned champion, achieving her first title on the Ladies European Tour.

The tournament witnessed strong competition that held the audience’s breath over three days, as the Irishwoman succeeded in imposing her control during a three-hole playoff round.

Maguire scored an eagle on the 18th hole, moving one stroke ahead of her closest rival, Spain’s Maria Hernandez, who led at seven under par.

Following the win, the Irish star stressed that patience was the key to success, adding: “I needed patience and it was a tough test for me, but I never gave up and I succeeded in the end.”

And it came Spanish star Maria Hernandez is second after a superb performance. Hernandez came close to her first win on the Ladies European Tour in 14 years, but finished one stroke behind Maguire.

Alison Lee finished third, despite taking eight derbies in the final round, two strokes behind England’s Georgia Hall.

Nadeau dominates the team level

In the team competition, it took three playoff holes to decide the victory between Nadeau and Hall. Both team captains scored an eagle early in the playoff, ensuring that the competition would be tight from the start.

“I was nervous hitting the last hole, but having the team by my side made me feel more comfortable and we eventually came through,” said the Nadeau team captain.
