Libya Basketball Cup | Three-pointer gives Al-Nasr the title

Player Zain Al-Abidin Makraz scored a three-pointer, four seconds before the end of his club Al-Nasr’s match against Al-Ahly Tripoli, in the Libyan Basketball Cup final, leading his club to victory with a score of 96-95, and winning this title for the fourth time in its history.

The match that brought together the two teams, Al-Nasr and Al-Ahly Tripoli, this evening, Thursday, at the Suleiman Al-Darrat Complex in Benghazi, to determine the identity of the Libyan Cup champion, witnessed Al-Nasr’s lead in the first quarter of the match (24-19), and Al-Ahly Tripoli returned to the match strongly and decided the second quarter in its favor (57-47), and the third as well (81-67).

In the fourth quarter, Al-Nasr returned to the match and succeeded in coming back from afar and clinching the match and the title in its favor with a score of 96 points to 95, and was crowned the Libyan Basketball Cup champion under the leadership of Tunisian coach Abdel Moneim Aoun.

Al-Ahly Tripoli Basketball Team

Al-Ahly Tripoli reached the final of the Libyan Basketball Cup after Al-Marouj team failed to attend the semi-final match, while Al-Nasr qualified for the final match after defeating Al-Shabab Al-Arabi (20-0), who also failed to attend.

Tunisian Abdel Moneim Aoun wins his third title in the Libyan Basketball Cup

Tunisian coach Abdel Moneim Aoun, who took over the technical mission of Al-Nasr team on June 19, succeeding Egyptian coach Ahmed Marai, became the only foreign coach to win the Libyan Basketball Cup title with three different clubs.

Abdel Moneim Aoun previously led Al-Ahly Tripoli to win the Cup title in 2021 after beating Al-Nasr 79-87, and returned in 2022 to lead Al-Ahly Benghazi to win the Cup, at the expense of his team Al-Ahly Tripoli 62-56, in the final match of the competition, and succeeded in winning his third title with Al-Nasr after winning the final against Al-Ahly Tripoli.

Al-Nasr crowned the Libyan Cup title for the fourth time

Al-Nasr team won the Libyan Basketball Cup for the fourth time in its history, tying with Al-Marouj Club. Al-Ittihad holds the record for winning the competition with 5 cups, while Al-Ahly Tripoli and Al-Shabab Al-Arabi teams succeeded in winning the Libyan Cup on 3 previous occasions, and Al-Ahly Benghazi won the title twice.
