An Iraqi coach called on local clubs not to kill the local coach by turning to a foreign coach, after the great controversy witnessed in the recent period between the national coach and the foreign coach.
This came in the statements of the club coach. Oil Adel Nehme during his presentation to the media today, Thursday, in a press conference, in the presence of the correspondent of the website “win win“.
“The issue of comparing the local and foreign coach is raised a lot in Iraqi sports circles, and this matter has caused a great deal of controversy, and if it indicates anything, it indicates the backwardness of the Iraqi sports community, because there is no difference between the local and foreign coach. The difference between one coach and another lies in the mentality only, and not because of the country,” Nima said in the press conference.
Oil coach calls for no comparison
“Results also cannot be a true measure for comparing coaches. Sometimes the circumstances are not helpful, while they may be very good for another coach,” he said, explaining: “Today we cannot compare the results of Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane.” ZidaneBecause the circumstances are different and the training mentality is different too.”
The Oil coach continued: “The problem with Iraqi clubs is that they did not bring in a foreign coach who has a significant impact on Iraqi football because most of those who came did not coach a big team or have a great CV. I do not know the reason for turning to this type of coach, and for your information, I am one of the local coaches who support the successful foreign coach.” He added: “There is a group of media professionals and fans on social media who support the foreign coach at the expense of the local one.”
He added: “The local coach was crowned with the title of Iraq Premier League For example, this does not mean that he contributed to the development of Iraqi football, because development comes from the beginning, that is, from the age groups and not from the first teams, so we call on the Iraqi clubs not to kill the local coach by only turning to the foreign coach just because of his nationality.”
He said: “The Iraqi state project emphasizes supporting competencies in various fields. Iraq currently has 1,600 coaches officially registered with the Football Association, so they must be developed through co-existence and interaction with foreign coaches. We must learn from the Qatari and Saudi experience by sending coaches to European countries to co-exist and keep up with the development taking place, not by killing their competence by not relying on them.”
It is noteworthy that most Iraqi clubs have moved towards contracting foreign coaches to lead their teams in the Iraqi Premier League next season.
