Injury keeps an important player out of the Algeria national team before facing Uganda


​The Algerian Football Federation announced today, Friday, that Yassine Brahimi, the star of the Qatari club Al-Gharafa, has left the Algeria national team camp due to an injury he suffered while participating as a starter in the match against Guinea in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Yesterday, Thursday, the “Greens” team suffered a defeat at home and among its fans with a score of (1-2) against the Guinean team, a loss that aroused the discontent and anger of the Algerian fans, especially since it occurred on the field of “Nelson Mandela” stadium.

He explained Algerian Federation In his statement, Brahimi felt pain in his hamstrings after the end of the match between the Algerian national team and its Guinean counterpart, and today, Friday, he underwent tests that showed that he is able to participate in the upcoming confrontation against Uganda.

The FAF statement said: “The national team midfielder, Yacine Brahimi, will miss the next match against Uganda scheduled for Monday, June 10, at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole (Kampala) in the fourth round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.”

The statement continued: “The Al-Gharafa club player felt pain in his hamstrings during the last match against Guinea, and additional medical examinations that he conducted on Friday morning revealed his injury. In light of this situation, the national coach, Vladimir Petkovic, allowed the player to leave training.”

Brahimi received permission from the technical staff of the Desert Warriors team to leave the camp after receiving this injury, which means his absence from participating against the Ugandan “Cranes” in Round 4 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

For reference, Brahimi participated in only 59 minutes during the “Greens” match against Guinea, after which Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic replaced him with his fellow striker Baghdad Bounedjah.

Brahimi received criticism from some Desert Warriors fans who were present at Nelson Mandela Stadium, and some of them went as far as asking him to leave the Algerian national team because of the level he showed against Guinea.
