This will be the third time Manchester City and Manchester United have met in the Community Shield, with United winning the previous two meetings, 1-0 in 1956 and 3-2 in 2011.
City won their last two Premier League games against United last season, winning 3-0 at Old Trafford and 3-1 at the Etihad.
However, United won the FA Cup final last May, the last time the two teams met, 2-1.
