Complete defender Iraqi national team Adam Rashid has completed his transfer to the Slovenian club Maribor to represent it starting from the current 2024-25 season that started in Slovenia.
The Slovenian club announced in a statement on its official website that Adam Rashid will represent Maribor until the summer of 2026.
According to sources, the Iraqi defender joined his new team on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Torino, Italy. Rashid is one of the team’s reinforcements in the summer transfers, along with Frenchman Bradley Mpondo, the Slovenian trio Patrick Katich, Niko Grlić, Ten Cook and Gabonese Morphy Mbina.

Rashid (18 years old) has been attending the Slovenian team’s training since the beginning of last July, where the player underwent several tests and participated in friendly trial matches for the team, as he was under the supervision of the team’s coach, Ante Simmondsa, during this period.

Recently, player Adam Rashid experienced a great shock due to the removal of his name from the list of the Iraqi Olympic team that participated in the Paris 2024 Olympics and the addition of the name of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya defender Saad Natiq (33 years old) instead of him.
The young Iraqi defender has previously played 12 matches with the Iraqi youth team, including the 2023 Asian Cup and World Cup.
Maribor was founded in 1960 and is headquartered in the Slovenian city of Maribor. The team plays in the Slovenian Premier League and its stadium is called “People’s Park” and has a capacity of 12,994 spectators.
