The Iraqi Football Association has set the date for the departure of the Iraqi Olympic delegation (under 23 years old) to France to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, where it will play in Group Two alongside the national teams of Argentina, Morocco and Ukraine.

He continued: “Professional players such as Youssef Al-Imam, Youssef Amin, Hussein Ali and Buland Azad will travel directly to France to join the Iraqi team’s training, as we prepare to play the first friendly matches in the Toulouse camp, between the French Pau team and the Iraqi Olympic team for the period from July 10 to 14, after which intensive training sessions will be held in preparation for the Olympics.”

He continued: “The Olympic team will participate in the Olympics, and it is all ambitious to achieve a positive result against the best football schools from Africa, South America and Europe, as Iraq trusts in the ability of its players to achieve the best results, and we are all ambitious to reach the furthest point possible in the competitions.”

Iraq is scheduled to start its journey in the Paris Olympics by facing Ukraine on July 24, then facing Argentina on the 27th of the same month, and then facing Morocco on the 30th of the same month.

This is the sixth participation of the Iraqi national team in the football competitions at the Olympics, as its last participation was in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and Iraq left the tournament in the group stage.

The Dutch Heerenveen professional, Hussein Ali, will be delayed in joining the Olympic team delegation, as he will miss the Iraqi Olympic team’s matches against the French Pau and the Egyptian Olympic team, due to his preparation with his Dutch team for the new season, as the player will join his teammates on the 18th of this month.
