Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah appeared sad after his team Al Shamal’s victory over Al Sadd, today, Saturday, in a match in the first round of the competition. I want a star leaguedespite scoring two goals against his former team.
The 32-year-old shone remarkably during the match and succeeded in scoring two wonderful goals against his former teammate, Meshaal Barsham, as he scored the first in the (31) minute with a precise ground shot, and scored the second in the (74) minute after breaking the offside trap and then sending a powerful shot from a narrow angle.
The brilliant striker did not celebrate his brace against his former team, as he raised his hands in respect for his former teammates and the fans who were present in the stands, in an act that confirms the player’s connection to the white club, especially since he received a special honor before the start of the match, and took a group photo with his former teammates.
And Boungah moved from The Dam To the north this summer on a free transfer after the end of his contract with the “Wolves” club, where he spent 9 full seasons, during which he succeeded in becoming the team’s all-time top scorer, and the all-time top scorer in the Qatari league championship.
Baghdad Bounedjah comments on his brace against Al Sadd
Bounedjah spoke after the end of the match, and answered a question about his morale after leading Al Shamal to victory over his former team Al Sadd, and said in press statements: “I am sad.. I spent 10 years in this club, my friends are there and I lived with them for a time equal to the life of a young child; but I fought on the field and that is certain.”
The Algerian player continued by saying: “We knew how to keep the net, we faced a team like Al Sadd, you had to defend, our defensive system was good, and we were well focused.. We worked well in the camp which was long.”
Baghdad Bounedjah added, talking about his former team: “I wish Al Sadd success. It is a big club and a club of titles, and they will make up for this loss. The players played a great match today, and this is football. When you score, you win, and whoever misses, you lose.”
Bounedjah also spoke about his team Al Shamal’s goal this season, saying: “Al Shamal’s officials have a project, and they aspire to achieve advanced positions in the league and improve performance. Our players are young and we will continue to work. This was our first match and the future will be better, God willing.”
Baghdad Bounedjah’s move to Al Shamal was surprising given his links to a Saudi league club after his decision to leave Al Sadd, but in the end he chose to stay in the Qatari league for the tenth consecutive season, which gives him the opportunity to enhance his numbers as the competition’s top scorer.
