American runner Noah Lyles won the gold medal in the 100-meter race in the athletics competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Lyles, the world champion who brought the Olympic title back to the United States for the first time since 2004, covered the distance in 9.79 seconds, beating Jamaican Keeshan Thompson, who took silver (9.79), and another American, Fred Kerley, who took bronze (9.81 seconds).

Moroccan Noura Elnadi behind McLaughlin

Moroccan Noura El Nadi reached the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles race, coming in second in the fifth series with a time of 55.26 seconds, behind the world record holder and Olympic champion in Tokyo three years ago, American Sydney McLaughlin-Levron (53.60 seconds).

This is the first participation of Noura Elnadi, 25, in the Olympic Games, and her best result remains the Arab Championship in 2021, the gold medal at the 2022 Islamic Solidarity Games, and the 2023 Francophone Games.

Poland’s Wojciech Nowitzki, the Olympic title holder in Tokyo, came in seventh (77.42 m), Norway’s Eivind Henriksen came in fourth (79.18 m), and another Pole, Pawel Fajdek, who won the bronze three years ago, came in fifth (78.80 m).

With his record on Sunday, Katzberg, who became Canada’s first Olympic champion in the hammer throw, achieved the best result in the Olympic competition since 1988 and a triple for the Soviet Union led by Sergei Litvinov (84.80m).
