Algerian Jamal Sajati advances to 800m semi-finals

Algerian Jamal Sajati qualified today, Wednesday, August 7, for the semi-finals of the 800-meter race, in the athletics competition within the Paris Olympics 2024, to continue his journey towards winning one of the medals.

After Kalia Nemour won the Olympic gold in the artistic gymnastics competition, the uneven bars specialty, and her compatriot, boxer Iman Khalif, is close to winning the gold as well, as she prepares to compete in the final in the 66 kg weight class, Algerians are waiting for Sajati to win the gold as well.

Sajati (25 years old) is one of the candidates to win the gold medal in the 800-meter race during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, given the results and numbers achieved by him this year 2024.

Algerian Jamal Sajati qualifies for 800m semi-finals

Algerian Jamal Sajati qualified for the final of the 800-meter race with great ease, after taking first place in his fourth group in the first round with a time of one minute, 45 seconds and 84 hundredths of a second.

The Algerian champion ran the race with great calm, and did not make much effort to enter the first place, as he continued to monitor the race from afar, then advanced with lightning speed in the last 300 meters, and finished the competition in the lead thanks to his well-known great speed in the last 100 meters.

Unlike Sajati, another Algerian runner, Souleymane Moula, failed to qualify directly for the semi-finals of the 800m race, after entering in eighth and last place in his sixth qualifying group in the first round, achieving a time of 1 minute, 46 seconds and 71 hundredths of a second.

The same fate befell the third Algerian, Mohamed Ali Gouand, who came in seventh in his second qualifying group, achieving a time of one minute, 47 seconds, and 34 hundredths of a second. The duo, Moula and Gouand, are expected to participate tomorrow, Thursday, in the qualifying round at 11:00 Algerian time and 1:00 Mecca and Doha time, hoping to advance to the semi-finals of the 800-meter race.

Returning to Algerian Jamal Sajati, the silver medalist in the 800-meter race at the 2022 World Championships, he has the third best record in the history of this race after Kenyan legend David Rudisha and Danish Wilson Kipketer, and he achieved it during his participation last July in the Monaco meeting, within the Diamond League, in a time of one minute, 41 seconds and 46 hundredths of a second.
