Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia announces the completion of the contract with Fernando Hierro

Al-Nasr had entered into negotiations with Hierro more than two months ago, and reached an agreement with the Spanish football icon, but postponed the announcement of the matter until the end of the 2023-24 season, which actually happened.

He added during the tweet in which he attached pictures of Hierro signing his contracts with Al-Alamy: “We wish the Spanish icon success with his club Al-Nasr.”

Hierro had previously held this position in several different clubs, before coming to Al-Nassr Saudi Arabia, where he assumed the position of sports director at the Mexican club Deportivo Guadalajara, from October 2022 until May 2024.

He also held the same position in Spanish Football Federation In 2017, he worked as an assistant to Italian Carlo Ancelotti during his first coaching period at Real Madrid in the 2014 season, and as coach of the first Spanish national football team in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, in addition to coaching Real Oviedo for one year from 2016 to 2017.

What is Fernando Hierro’s role in the Saudi victory?

Saudi media said that Hierro will be the primary responsible for football in all its categories, and his duties also include selecting technical staff, and coordinating with Portuguese Luis Castro, the first team coach, regarding negotiations with foreign players that the club wants to sign during the summer transfer period.

Hierro began his football career in 1987 with Valladolid Club, before moving to Real Madrid in 1989. During 14 seasons with the Royal Club, he won 5 Spanish League championships and 3 Champions League titles, and was considered one of the best players in the world as a center back.

In 2003, he moved to the Qatari League and played specifically with Al Rayyan, and won the cup before concluding his professional career with the English club Bolton Wanderers in 2005.
