Al-Ahly’s expected formation against Esperance in the CAF Champions League final


The features of Al-Ahly’s expected formation against Esperance of Tunisia have been determined, as a private source revealed the scenes of the Red Giant’s final group training session, in preparation for meeting its counterpart, Esperance, in the African Champions League final.

A private source within Al-Ahly Club disclosed to the platform:win win“, that the team’s technical staff, led by the Swiss Marcel Cole, and the players, were keen to watch a number of Esperance Club’s matches, to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the competing team.

The source confirmed that the basic formation of the Al-Ahly team that will play today’s match against Esperance has not been decided yet, but there are constants in the formation.

He pointed out that the expected formation of Al-Ahly against Esperance is scheduled to include Ali Mustafa Schubert in goalkeeping, in defense with the quartet Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Rami Rabia, Mohamed Hani, and in attack Wissam Abu Ali, and midfielder Imam Ashour.

The Hamadi Al-Aqrabi Olympic Stadium is scheduled to host Al-Ahly’s match against Esperance, at ten in the evening today, Saturday, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final.

The second leg of the CAF Champions League final is expected to be held on May 25, hosted by the Cairo International Stadium.

The Al-Ahly club delegation returns to Cairo on Sunday morning, after playing the first leg, and preparations for the return match begin in Cairo.

This is the third meeting between the two teams, as Al-Ahly faced its counterpart, Esperance, in the CAF Champions League final in the 2012 and 2018 editions. Al-Ahly won the title in the first match, while Esperance of Tunisia won the title in the second match.

Al-Ahly reserved its place in the CAF Champions League final, after eliminating its Congolese counterpart, Mazembe, by defeating them three-to-one, in the aggregate of the two-legged matches for the semi-finals of the tournament.

While Esperance of Tunisia qualified at the expense of South African club Sun Downs, beating them in the first leg in the semi-finals of the tournament with a goal, they found the same result in the second leg.
