Al-Ahly Saudi competes with Premier League giants for a huge deal

Media reports have revealed a major surprise, stating that England national team star, Ivan Toney, has become a major target for Saudi club Al-Ahly during the current summer transfer period, in preparation for the new 2024-25 season.

The Brentford striker has been strongly linked with a move away from his current club, especially with only one year remaining – June 2025 – on his contract with the English club.

The newspaper website revealed:The SunThe British newspaper exclusively reported that Brentford’s management was initially prepared to reduce Toni’s price to just £30 million. But after new striker Igor Tiago suffered a knee injury that will keep him out until December, the management decided to reconsider selling their main star.

Tony’s name has been linked with several Premier League giants including Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham. But the Italian journalist Faberzio Romano Transfer market expert revealed interest from the Saudi Professional League.

Ivan Toney wanted by Al-Ahli Saudi

Romano said that Toni is considered among the “main strikers being considered” by officials in the Saudi league, noting that Al-Ahly has expressed interest in the player since last January.

Romano said in a tweet on his account on the “x” platform: “Ivan Toney is one of the main strikers being studied by Saudi Professional League clubs in the final weeks of the transfer period.”

“Tony is highly regarded by Al-Ahli Saudi Club. The club has shown interest in him since the January transfer window,” he added.

He concluded by saying that although Tony is still on the list of potential targets for Saudi clubs, he has not yet made a final decision regarding his future.

It appears that Toni is using the remaining time in the transfer window to carefully assess his options, but they may now be limited after signing Manchester United With Joshua Zirkzee, Tottenham completing Dominic Solanke deal, and Niclas Füllkrug joining West Ham.

Toney scored four goals in 17 games last season after serving an eight-month ban for betting offences and was also part of the England squad that lost the Euro 2024 final to Spain.

If he moves to Al-Ahly Saudi Club, Toni will have to play alongside former stars in the English Premier League, such as Senegalese Edouard Mendy, Algerian Riyad Mahrez, and Brazilian Roberto Firmino.
