Akram Afif and the Jordanian duo enter the lists of the Best in Asia Awards


Announce Asian Football Confederation “AFC”, this morning, Tuesday, October 1, announced the candidates for the Best in Asia 2023 awards, as the lists witnessed a distinguished Arab presence through the Qatari star Akram Afif, captain of Al Sadd Club, and the Jordanian duo Yazan Al-Naimat and Musa Al-Taamari.

For the fourth time in a row, a Qatari star appears on the list of candidates for the Best Player in Asia Award, after he won it Abdul Karim Hassan Al-Sadd star in 2018, and Akram Afif won it in 2019, noting that the award was canceled in 2020 and 2021, while Al-Moez Ali was one of the candidates for it in 2022, which is the award that Salem Al-Dosari won.

Competing for the 2023 Asian Player of the Year award are Qatari Akram Afif of Jordan, Yazan Al-Naimat of Jordan, and Seol Young-woo of South Korea.

Akram Afif appeared more than wonderfully with Al-Anabi in the Asian Cup, and helped the defending champion retain the championship, after he became the first player to score three goals in the final match, as he finished the tournament with 8 goals and three assists, to win the best player and top scorer awards, while he was Yazan Al-Naimat, one of the key players who contributed to Al-Nashama’s brilliance in the Asian Cup as well, by scoring four goals and assisting two goals, helping his country reach the final of the tournament for the first time in its history.

When is the Best in Asia Awards 2023?

The Asian Football Confederation indicated that the 2023 Best in Asia Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 29, when the twenty-eighth edition of the annual AFC Awards will be held at the Grand Peace Palace at Kyung Hee University in the South Korean capital, Seoul.

The AFC also revealed the nominees for other awards, as the name of Jordanian Musa Al-Taamari appeared on the list of nominees for the Best Professional from Outside the Continent award, competing with Iranian Mehdi Taremi, the Inter Milan striker, and South Korean Heung-Min Son, the Tottenham star.
