Tarek Mostafa, the technical director of Al-Bank Al-Ahly Club, revealed that his left-back, Isaac Yakubu, renewed his contract with the club, thus ending Zamalek’s hopes of obtaining his services.
The Confederation Cup champion had entered into negotiations with the Ghanaian full-back to obtain his services this summer for free, since his contract with Al-Ahly Bank had expired, but the former Wadi Degla player preferred to settle down and extend his contract with his club.
Tarek Mustafa said during a program on the DMC satellite channel: “Isaac Yacoubou renewed his contract with Al-Bank Al-Ahly Club, which was due to expire at the end of the current season.”
He continued: “Yaqoubou felt that continuing with Al-Ahly Bank was better than moving to Zamalek Club, especially since he is not guaranteed to play as a starter if he moves to Zamalek with Fattouh.” He concluded: “Isaac Yaqoubou is one of the important players in Al-Ahly Bank team and his continuation with us was important.”
Zamalek looking to sign a left-back
The White Club is seeking to sign a new left-back this summer, due to the frequent injuries suffered by left-back Ahmed Fattouh, and the severe injury suffered by veteran left-back Mohamed Abdel Shafy, a cruciate ligament rupture that could end his football career.
The White Castle Club is preparing to face Enppi next Monday, in the postponed match of the 22nd round of the Egyptian League.
Zamalek is ranked fifth in the Egyptian Premier League table, with 49 points, after playing 30 matches, winning 15, drawing 7, and losing 8. Its players scored 45 goals, and its net received 30 goals.
